What is an ambigram?

A word or design that can be read in more than one way: most often a word that still reads (as itself or as another word) when turned upside down, or a design that is symmetric in a mirror.

How does this ambigram generator work?

Each letter is blended with the letter it must become when the design is turned 180 degrees, so the same shapes read as your first word one way up and your second word the other way up. Mirror mode reflects the word to make a symmetric design.

Which words work best?

Short words with letters that already rotate into each other: n and u, d and p, b and q, m and w, and s, o, x, z, H, N, which rotate into themselves. Lowercase often reads better. Names of similar length blend best.

Can I use it for a tattoo?

You can download the design for free and use it for personal projects. For a tattoo, take it to an artist as a starting point; professional ambigrams are drawn by hand letter by letter.
